New Roots: In the Bronx is a 9-part web series created for the International Rescue Committee, following refugees as they put down new roots at two IRC-run community gardens and adjust to life in the United States. Winner of a 2013 Webby Honoree in the Public Service & Activism category.
Our Process.
Rocketship partnered with our friends at Flying Monkeys Media to craft this series over the course of 3-months handling production and post. While FM took the lead on story, we were hard at work filming at the various locations and then turning around the edits in between shoot days. It was an incredibly rewarding experience learning about their lives, seeing them learn and grow in the short time we were together.
Services.
Production. Cinematography. Post-producing. Editing. Music and Sound Design.
About the IRC and New Roots: The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Each year, the IRC helps resettle thousands of refugees granted sanctuary in the United States. Through the New Roots program, many of these new arrivals are growing food in urban gardens.
